The Turkey Pull is The Strength Co.’s annual Thanksgiving deadlift event. Each year, around 50 lifters from all over Southern California come together to test their pull and raise money for the Semper Fi & America’s Fund, which supports critically wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families.
The event raised $1,500 in 2023 and $2,000 in each of 2024 and 2025. Past pulls have seen everyone from first-timers to competitive powerlifters on the platform, ages 18 to 88.

Compete in the meet
Your heaviest successful pull of three attempts counts. Every entry supports the Semper Fi & America’s Fund.
- Three deadlift attempts
- Conventional or sumo
- Straps, belts, and chalk allowed
- Event t-shirt included
- Enter in person or online
Entry: $50
MEET RULES
THE FORMAT
- Flights set by opening attempts, announced before the meet
- Each flight completes all three rounds before the next begins
- Lifting order runs lighter to heavier within each round
GOOD LIFT
- Bar starts on the floor
- Stand fully upright, knees locked, hips extended
- Show control at lockout
- Return the bar to the floor under control
ATTEMPTS
- Submit your opening attempt before meet day
- Report your next weight to the scoring booth right after each attempt
- A submitted weight can’t be lowered
- After a good lift, your next attempt must be heavier
- After a miss, repeat the weight or go up

Is there an online competition?
Yes. Choose the Online option when you register. Same $50 entry, and your shirt ships the week of November 16 with free shipping.
Do I need experience to compete?
No. The Turkey Pull is open to all skill levels. Past pulls have seen everyone from brand-new lifters to competitive powerlifters, ages 18 to 88.
